I know it is a long shot, but worth a try. . .
Umpteen years ago, long before the thought of duck hunting crossed my mind, I hunted deer and squirrel a time or two on the Uwharrie Game Lands not too far from Ellerbe travelling towards Mt. Gilead on NC-73. I seem to remember traveling Carthage Creek Rd at some point? There was a good sized pond on this section of GL with a narrow concrete dam that you had to walk across in order to get away from the road. I always remembered that as odd because most of the GL ponds I had experienced had earthen dams.
Anybody know the name of the place?

Appreciate the link, but that doesn’t appear to be it...

Have you taken a good look at a satellite view of the area and tried to locate where you are referring to?

I’ve narrowed it down using Google Earth. The old friend who introduced me to the spot is out of the country, but I’ll confirm it with him.
It may be **** **** Pond... NC Wildlife Map has it listed as an impoundment on the GL map.
