I'm buying an Escort Legacy youth 20g for my daughter's. Good reviews from what I can find. Not finding much info about this as a turkey gun. I'm seeing the choke pattern is Huglu... Anyone using a choke they like that'll work???

    Thanks

Your best bet would be to get one of the choke tube mfg's to make you one. I'd recommend Sumtoy, Rob Roberts, or Carlson's. Carlson's shows them on their website. My 20 uses mobil choke & I have both the Sumtoy & Rob Roberts. Like them both! Sumtoy is a little tighter where the Rob Roberts is a tad more open. 180+/- in the 10 @ 40 & 165+/- in the 10 @ 40 respectively with either Fed HW 7's or Nitro hevi 7's. Once you set her gun up I'm warning you that you'll be taking it with you instead of the 12 & by next year you'll be setting one up for yourself. Just a warning!:nutz

Yeah I like the feel of that small gun. I have no doubt I'm going to have to get a second one. Off the top of your head do you remember a turn around time and or cost to have one made?

Rob Roberts would probably make you one in a day or so I'd guess. Carlson's apparently has them in stock. Sumtoy would also make one. Rob Roberts I believe are around $80 & so is the Sumtoy. I think Carlson's are around $40. All of them good chokes but I believe the Carlson's are a bit more open like .575 vs .570 for the Rob Roberts & .562 for the Sumtoy. I got caught up in the numbers game last year & shot the Sumtoy but this year I'm shooting the Roberts choke. Not enough difference in the numbers & the Roberts probably is a better hunting choke for my gun as it's a tad more even. Really anything over 100 in the 10 @ 40yds is a killer. How dead you want them? You get her gun dialed in & you'll reach for it instead of the 12ga. I'm telling ya!

Awesome info guys I emailed SumToy. I'll do the same with Roberts. If the Carlson does okay I might go that route. I like them in my face. If he isn't in the decoys it's not a win. With the kids if they hang up and are in range game over. Something about being that tight into a Tom...

Thanks again guys for the help & happy hunting...

Ordered my SumToy today. Great to deal with. If the xhokes are as good as the customer service I'll be very happy!!! Thanks to those that pointed me towards them! I'll let you guys know how I like it when I get a few rounds on paper.

Did you ever pattern your Sumtoy choke? William has had some outstanding stuff with the Federal HW 7's.
If you are into hand loading, even just a little, the TSS 9's really do well. There is a reduced load that runs a 28 ga wad inside a 20 ga wad. Uses an ounce of shot. It's a good one for youngsters.
Pm me if you want more info and who you can get the TSS and loads from.

Federal Heavyweight is devastating out of the Carlson Turkey tube in my daughter's little SA08. Just don't let them get too close because there's not much room for error with that combo inside 40 yards.
