9NEWS Meteorologist Marty Coniglio reports that this August will be the warmest in Denver's recorded history. By Wednesday afternoon the average daily temperature was 76.9 degrees, edging out 1937 by one tenth of a degree as the hottest August.

Five record highs were set or tied during the month of August:
    - 98 degrees on the 18th, tying 1986
    - 98 degrees on the 23rd, tying 2009
    - 98 degrees on the 24th, breaking record of 97 set in 1936
    - 99 degrees on the 25th, breaking record of 96 set in 1913
    - 98 degrees on the 31st, tying 1960.

September is expected to briefly start off just as hot with a forecast for a record high of 98 degrees which would be the hottest temperature ever recorded in the month of September in Denver if it happens Thursday afternoon.

That means the doves should still be here! (Good) And the elk are hanging out high above timberline all day to avoid the flies! (Not so good)
