And last winter it only rained twice.

It rained once from Sept 15 - Dec 18th and then again from Jan 3rd - April 16th.

The days in between it was too cold to rain.

    We had snow, instead.

I wish it wasn't that way. We just don't have the infrastructure to deal with snow, when it is just snow, as often times it is ice.

This is 18" on my road two years ago. They never did plow it, not even a farmer with a blade or bucket. 20160123_090133.jpg

Underneath that snow was 1/2" of ice. 20160122_111446.jpg

Southerners always complain that their winter storms are worse down south because they get ice. They must not be aware that the north gets ice storms as well. It just happens mostly in the fall and spring, and it doesn't make the news.

Very similar to when the wind blows 50plus.
If I had a quarter every time we had 50 knot gusts at my house, I’d buy a couple folks a cup of coffee.

I don’t reckon it’s much different than Northerners bitching about 100 with 99% humidity or snakes.

I’ve driven a lot of roads outside the south with ice, and it isn’t the same. It’s not so much the ice and snow. It’s the ignorant masses that think they either must go at a snails pace, or wide open. And they will hit the brakes like they are on a dry road. Recipe for disaster...

Unfortunately, we have morons up here too. I like to blame it on the FIBS(people from Illinois). Here’s video of the most recent pile up. This is the 2nd in two weeks in this area. Lake effect snow isn’t a joke. You go from clear skies to zero visibility in the blink of an eye coming in and out of snow bands. Check this video out.
