When I first got into waterfowling I was way over choked. I was running a Patternmaster Code Black Duck with 3” #2 because it’s what everyone else I hunted with was using. A full pattern at 60 yards isn’t much help shooting birds in your face over decoys at 15-30 yards. After spending some time at the pattern board with my stock chokes, I figured it out. Ended up picking up the Carlson Cermator Close Range, which is said to pattern steel like an IC, and I haven’t looked back. Regardless of brand I think IC is great. As others have mentioned Light Mod is excellent too, but I haven’t been to the pattern board with it, only from field experience, so I can’t say too much.
