I was curious what's the longest shots you guys have made. I shot a prairie dog last year at 686yds with my 22-250. I am wondering if I will be able to out do that this year.

The longest I have made on a groundhog was right at 600 yards, give or take a few, since it was on a ditch and had to range to the nearest bush. They become awfully hard to hit beyond 500 due to bullet drop rate increasing so fast.

I have seen a friend of mine, who shoots a .22-243 AI, take them at nearly 1/2 mile. It was more than 800, according to the laser, but less than 900 according to the bullet drop table calculations.

Just got back from the hunt actually, shot a wood chuck at 245 long paces with a 204. That should be pathetic enough for eveyone else to feel pretty good about themselves. I bought the rifle a few years ago and haven't used it much. Before that I only shot a few a hornet or 22 long rifle. I was feeling good about the shot until I sat down and opened this thread. Maybe this year I will get out enough to see what the rifle will do.

475 yards on a fox. Had to take the shot with him runnning away and it went in the back of the head. 45 gr. out of a 220. He was running because my nephew shot at him twice at closer then 200 yrds.:tu All that time handloading was worth it that day.
