    I tried 7/8oz #7.5 and #8 in 20ga O/U last year with good success but I think I'll go back to using a 12 try out my new SX3 12ga using 1.125oz #7.5 shot. I don't like using #6 or #9s but I can't really tell much difference between #7.5 and 8s.

I might try some #7 steel just for kicks but I have a feeling they will might prove disappointing.

Anyone use anything more exotic? There's really no need to but why should that prevent us from doing it anyway?

I tried Win Xspeed #8's last year. I liked em just fine, but I don't know that they work any better than anything else I've used. They just seem to shoot decent out of the gun I used last year.

It depends on what type of doves and what part of the season. I shoot two 12 ga. Bernardelli hammer guns, one choked IC/Mod and the other F/F. For Mourning Doves it's usually 1 oz. of # 8's. Late season I may go to 1 1/8 oz. of # 7 1/2's. For White-wings I like the 1 1/8 oz of 7 1/2's and shoot the full and fuller chokes no matter what part of the season.

1 1/8 ounce 7.5s Winchester or Federals in 12 ga. Just shoots better in my gun than any #8 load.
