I ever hear of anyone planting wheat to flood for ducks?

I walk my dogs next to a watershed and across the road is an ag field that gets the normal crop rotation.

When I send my dogs to get wet, I notice some wheat growing among the other assorted weeds. I assume the seed was washed from the field across the road(It does flood)

Any experience of standing mature winter wheat? Not the immature green stuff.
