Some of the areas I had planned on planting are under water.... 10-15 foot of water....

I wonder if I could scatter rice and barnyard grass seed and get it to settle to the bottom and be ready when the water drops out?

Not much current in this area.

    Any opinions?

Best to get the water off, then scatter your barnyard seed on the mud flat. It should take, depending on the type. Don't think the rice would do anything in water that deep but some varieties can under shallow water ...at least that's my understanding. But I personally have zero experience growing rice so maybe it's better to let those that do advise you.

Well I decided against patience and wanted the rice seed to soak for a few days before the water dropped out.

Hopefully it gets a fine layer of sediment on it and it is first to sprout when the water is gone.

Is the water falling, how long until its off?
Hope you have very little wind or sheltered from the wind... good luck

It will probably be dry in less then a week. There is enough brush to keep the floaters from going too far. I'm not even sure if the floaters will sprout?

If your water is off that quick, then you will
have a lot sprout and stick root... the floaters are of no concern, it's the seed under water that can be moved and bunched by too much wind/water movement or current.

Been fighting beavers to get the last foot or two of water off. It was down to ankle deep on Weds. Cindy is moving in so that could raise the water and hurt or help
