    TEAMGTG,

The real snot-knocker is the .460 Weatherby, not too bad from sticks or standing position, but from the bench...well it will get your attention!

Actually the .577 T-Rex and .700 nitro express are suppose to be the current show stoppers,

but that is quit a bit over the top compared to what I am looking for or need. Cool video though.

True, but they are stopping rifle for a whole 'nother creature.

I would go with the 9.3x62, I have owned a few and liked them all, currently only have my custom Ruger.

.375H&H is not an issue in Alaska, found everywhere. If you reload go with Barnes TSX in either 270 or 300gr.

jzaferis, that Ruger is a beauty. I do favor their No.1 single-shot rifle, will have to get one eventually. When are you going back to Africa? My wife is anxious to visit her parents in RSA, so next summer looks like a go. I'll try for a gemsbok this time- when I am over there the hunting is strictly for the table as they love to braai.

Very nice gun, I'd like to have that exact gun in stainless. Do you reload or use premium ammo?

I sold off all my reloading stuff when I moved to Florida. It literally took up to much space and I really wasn't using it any more. For as often as I go hunting today I can get by with a couple of boxes of premium ammo so availability if going to be a factor. I am leaning towards the 338 win mag due to ammo availability alone. As far as the cool factor, I would prefer the 9.3x62 but only feel the need for 338'06 power. This creates and interesting three way tie with an edge towards the magnum but still undecided.

    Raul G,

I am headed back to Namibia in April of 2012, then Botswana in 2013.

Gemsbok is some of my favorite, Zebra is the top of my list with Blue Wildebeest and Blesbok close behind.
