I can vouch for gwdecoys wood harli; beautiful bird!
Ok guys 1st off thanks for all the info on this thread. 2nd I ordered a six pack of these from Dixie. Now all I need is to figure out how to paint them and what paints to use.
Get on the Dixie decoys site and click the how to, select Harlequin drake or Harlequin hen and it will give you a list of colors and instructions. It is a good basic pattern that you can add a bit to if you would like. The hen is a bit too brown for my liking but you could dry brush a little medium to dark gray on the sides. I'm sure one of the guys here will have a bit better advice but this will get you going.
Remember to always have reference pictures when you are painting. I take my laptop to my painting room and pull up a bunch of pics of the bird I'm working on. Different angles, back, side, breast, head, a good view from above to see how things flow together.
I have both a hen and drake mounted so I'll most likely use those for reference.
Billy I sent you a message the other day did you get it?
Don Mintz is looking at making a batch again. Contact him if you are interested.
