Pellet strafes suck....a tear isn't so bad, but when a pellet takes a number of feathers with it, especially in the head/neck area it's difficult to fix perfectly. I've sewn decapitated heads back on without it showing but a few lines of missing feathers is tougher. I believe yours can be fixed by a competent taxidermist and/or hidden with dedicated pose designed to limit the visibility of that damage. Nice bird.

There are two pellet strikes so I’m thinking if I have a flying pose showing it’s back I am hoping it can be done my taxidermist said it shouldn’t be a problem but just wanted to hear it from some other taxidermists thanks for the info

A pellet striking in that manner is going to tear out feathers no matter what the size shot, it's just "bad luck" having one or more hit like that. Watch some slow motion videos by Pitboss and you'll wonder how any duck has enough feathers left to mount.

I had the same problem trying to find more of those Monarch #4s the other day. Had to go with #2s. :(

    Who's mounting the bird?
