My brittany is about ready to start hunting and I would like to take her on some hunts. I am not crazy about pay farms, but have heard that there is a great deal of woodcock in LA. Any ideas or comments for me. I would also love to hear about any opporunities for wild pheasant hunting as close to LA as possible. Thanks.

Why don't you like pay farms? I have gone on 2 paid quail hunts this season for the 1st time, and I loved it. The 1st was in Breaux Bridge, LA & the other was in Ville Plate, LA. I have a 8 month old pup that I'm training right now and a farm seems to be the best training. It is controled & you know that you will have birds for your dog to work, unlike going on a hunt for 2 hrs and not seeing 1 bird. But thats just my opinion.;)
