I'm aware it may be a fairly tall order but...

I'm looking for a reasonably solid 1970-1978 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40/BJ42/FJ43 project vehicle or restoration find. 1975-1978 would be preferred. I am NOT interested in machines that are heavily rusted and ready to be parted out. I would prioritize solid cosmetics before mechanics. Also, NOT looking for a $25,000 classic show truck.

    Original Toyota engines only, please.

Would consider going outside of TN-AR-MS for this if you know of one or someone that does.

    Any and all help appreciated.

Good luck! I looked a bit for a 40 a few years ago but all I found was overpriced rust buckets; all the decent one were crazy expensive. Ended up with a 60 which is much more practical for me anyway. Of course since then I've seen a few good deals on 40's! I'll keep my eyes open around here(north La).

Check over on ih8mud.com, that's pretty much THE site for cruiser stuff.

    Thanks, appreciate the assistance.

Very familiar with the MUD Forum, as well. Appreciate the suggestion.

Get in line. Those trucks in decent shape are fairly rare and heavily sought after. If you find one, let me know.:l

Not as rare as you might think.

Thanks to all for the assistance, PMs, and leads. I've located a couple of vehicles, now I just have to choose which one.

So did you join the Land Cruiser club? If you did, lets see some pics. I've had one FJ60, 5 FJ80's, and as of this weekend, 2 100 Series. Never had a 45 but would like to one day. Here's a few pics of my older ones. I just bought a 1999 100 Series that I have to pick up this weekend. Had a 2000 model and sold it because I wanted a 99. The 99 I got has the factory rear diff locker and this summer the build will begin. I'm going to put an ARB air locker up front, lift it about 3", put some 315/75/16's on, and later will put an ARB winch bumper up front and a Slee bar in the back. It all takes time and lots of money so will have to do a little at a time.

BTW, if you didn't find one, here's a good place to search

Not a Cruiser but I just bought this one a few weeks ago for a daily driver. The 100 gets about 13 MPG in town so 16 to 17 MPG with this one. I put a new set of tires on and did a few mods.

This is what I'll be shooting for when I get finish with it.

    This is my last 100

    My first FJ60

The last FJ80 I owned. The 80 with front and rear lockers is by far the most capable off road Land Cruiser.
