Really, does one think that you get to choose which laws get more enforced with higher fines over others? Guys complain that peoplelilike Foiles don't get fined enough when they choose to break the laws, then say that these guys were hit too hard because "somewhere else" they had more liberal limits which would have made this legal?

Doesn't matter what the laws were elsewhere.....maybe the hunters should have chosen to hunt there instead.

I applaud the high fines and hope that it sets a precedent to be followed.:tu

I doubt you have any plane bands unless you hunt at the airport.

Whats your point? That logic makes absolutely no sense. Just because something is legal at a certain of the year or in another state doesn't justify the fact that it WAS and IS illegal at the time the crime was committed. The overall population goal wouldn't be achieved by having a free for all anyways. Hunters don't significantly impact the Greater or Lesser snow goose population enough to lower it where those that make these regulations want it anyways. If anything we probably keep the population the same on certain years. By that thinking, the group of guys that got busted in South Dakota a few years ago for shooting snows over ecallers shouldn't of faced any punishment? And as Dean mentioned both North Dakota and South Dakota "apparently" are way over their biological capacity for Canada Geese so it's okay if we go out and shoot 3-4x's the legal limit, or start shooting them in the Spring over decoys?

Which might be why the parties plead guilty? Like somebody posted above, probably had more charges hanging over their heads, and probably not all of the story has been publicized.

^ This. Guys that break the rules and then whine about the fines shouldn't be allowed to hunt, period.
