When the leaf crawlers start to come to the surface due to the ground warming up a baited yo-yo will catch em around cypress trees in most arkansas oxbows. The cypress trees have lots of limbs to hang em on and providesa anice shady spot for a mess of cats to hang around. We usually have a hard time putting out 30 or 40 yo-yos. By the time we have em out we have to take em in because we have our limits. Our guess is that the cats like to cruise into shallow water to feed on those worms that are in the leaves when the river pushes the lakes back into the shoreline.
I use a single gold crappie wire hook. They are sharp. We lose some big ones but we don't miss as many as with heavy hooks.
