If they were close it would.. But when I go hunting with the shotgun it usually is Dead Coyote hevi shot or some 00 buck.. #6 may be stretching it a bit.. But inside 30 yards it would probably do the trick.

or #4 buck is best. 2's will work at close to mid-range on coyotes , and is deadly on foxes to 50 yards. In coyote country, go to BB's or more. IMO, 00 is to thin of a pattern to rely on all of the time. Seen many dogs done in at 65-70 yards the these loads. Closer too!

223 hands down. I have a 17HMR and it is a great round no doubt.
A heads shot with a 17 HMR done deal. Body shot very doubtful.
Eventually it will die but recovery is very tough.
Shotgun slugs will do the trick but if you thinking if getting the hide tanned forget the slug trick.
I called a yote in a few weeks ago while bear huntin and shot him at 110yds
with my 308 using 165gr spire points. Entered through right shoulder, left shoulder was completly detached and there was nothing worth saving except the tail. I will be ordering a Savage 12BVSS for my X-mas gift topped with a Leupold VXIII 6.5 x 20. Hopefull this gun will shoot the same load as my
other 223 50gr SXSP. I know this is great for squirrels at 300-400yds
