DES MOINES, Iowa ? Iowa's Supreme Court legalized gay marriage Friday in a unanimous and emphatic decision that makes Iowa the third state ? and first in the nation's heartland ? to allow same-sex couples to wed.

Iowa joins only Massachusetts and Connecticut in permitting same-sex marriage. For six months last year, California's high court allowed gay marriage before voters banned it in November.

The Iowa justices upheld a lower-court ruling that rejected a state law restricting marriage to a union between a man and woman.

Oh no, I'm heartbroken. Who gives a *****. They're not marrying me, why should I be worked up about it. I'm not for it or against it, I just don't see why people bitch about it when it doesn't affect them. I'm sure someone will let me know how it affects me though.

It destroys the sanctity of the 50% of marriages that don't end in divorce. Duh. :dv

Shouldn't this be on the political board anyway?

    Majority rules, right?

Next time---i.e. different subject-- you might not like that philosophy so much.

I find homosexuality to be immoral.

I applaud states for not discriminating based on such.

Govt shouldn't be about attaching rights to marriage. They have been, so now by rights they should do so without discriminating. Tough.

Sad to see how many think others' liberty extends until they themselves are offended or don't approve of such. Also sad to see how they only like such when it's a one-way street.
