I was sitting at the local airport the other day reading an issue of Shooting Sportsman. A woman (yankee) who was obviously here on a casino junket sees the magazine and started giving ME grief about guns and hunting. She says with disgust that last year "sport hunters" killed over 20 million of the indiginous american clay pigeon, "all in the name of sport." I started cracking up! I said "Yes ma'am, I killed several hundred last weekend, and left them laying there." She turns red and says I should be ASHAMED!!!! I am about to LOOSE IT at this point. So I said, "Ma'am, have you ever seen an indiginous american clay pigeon in the wild???" "Did you know that they live in cardboard boxes?" "Did you know they don't lay eggs or have beaks?" "Did you know that they are born full grown?" She looked at me like I was a blithering idiot. Then I showed here a white flyer ad from the Black's Wing and Clays I always have in my briefcase. "That is the American Clay Pigeon, They make them on assembly lines like in Detriot." You wanna talk about turning RED, I thought the silly bat was gonna die! She walked off stammering. I took it from this exchange that the average PETA member is 1) easily brainwashable, and 2) not exactly a rocket scientist. What is scary is that this is not the first conversation that I have ever had in an airport along the same lines!
