Fantastic book. Which one of his other books would you recommend?
Just one? I'd pick The Season
I'd love to read Kelly's works but dang, the cheapest copy is $55! Going to check the library and see if they have it.
My home state of Alabama is RICH in Wild Turkey Lore.... Auburn University along with the founder of the NWTF...Mr. Kennamer....an AU Grad. himself....were the Core of Successful Wild Turkey restocking in our state along with many others...along with proper Land Management techniques favored by Turkeys. Alabama is to Wild Turkeys as Stuttgart, Arkansas is the Mallard Capital!!! Wild Turkeys have always been a highly coveted game bird here....killed my first one 51 years ago this spring....and they still make the hair on my neck stand up when they get in there close.....especially when they SNEAK in and start Drumming!!! I learned from some of the Old Timers who hunted them successfully when they were scarce....I would listen to them for hours....
I agree, Fishun Injun, turkey hunting is always grand! I loved the times I went to south Africa and stalked a kudu and other game but turkey hunting is special.
Picked up a copy of "Gobblers I have known" by Tim Herald a few weeks ago. Sons and I have been reading a chapter or two each night at bedtime. My 9yo is siked to be chasing turkeys for the first time this year. Got 3 two year old birds hanging around so hopefully he'll get a crack at one.
