I always had good luck with the old Olt calls, especially in the timber. I also like the Faulk's call made down in Lake Charles LA. The RNT is a good "over deep water" call.

.......and along with that my 2 most favorite calls of ALL TIME are:

"Honey, supper is ready!" and "Honey, your Illini Basketball game is on!"

Yeah, she knows what keeps an old man happy!

I'm not 100% positive, but I believe JC Higgins was a SEARS brand of hunting equipment. They sold everything from guns to coats to call to decoys under this name. I still have and wear my grandpa's old JC Higgins field coat for upland birds.

Funny that you mention the DR-85 and the Primos Wench. I've owned both of these calls, and for the money, they're highly underrated/overlooked! Good to hear somebody say something good about an affordable call for once. :tu

My two "go to" calls right now are an Echo Acrylic Timber and a Gaston Staight Barrel modified by David to give a lighter blowing low end. I have given up on the Daisy Cutter after a year of trying.
