It can be for trout, or fow whatever you fish for, for that matter.

    Pics appreciated :)

....I really like the Deerhair Caddis or the Royal Wulff.
For Bass, Largemouth and Smallmouth ,I use Deerhair Poppers of appropriate size and/or The Coffeygrinder.
We have a buddy, Gregg Coffey, in Lincoln, Illinois that is a Fly tying Guru and he keeps me well supplied with Fly fishing goodies. His Sparkleminnow Streamer can be seen on Montanaflies.com and it's DEADLY on Bass.

hmmmm tough one... they all have their place...

    Brown Bomber for Atlantic Salmon
    Steelhead Caddis for Steelhead
    Parachute Adams for Trout

It sure is tough to leave a salmonfly off of the list though as that is some of the most fun fishing when it does happen.

I true steelhead caddis has an orange body but what i call a steelhead caddis is very much like a sparkly mudler. I am not sure what the correct name for the fly is, but you can get an idea from the picture.
