Youth Hunt

    Just wondering if any of you took a youth out for there first hunt this year. This is a pic. of my nephew with his first two pheasants.

    We don't have a youth hunt here. Not for pheasants anyways. Nice birds.

    Looks like everyone had fun, except the birds.
    Congratulations.
    I guess you were hunting on a preserve since he harvested a hen. I am sure that he appreciated you taking him out and introducing him to pheasant hunting.

    We have some sort of thing down here ran by some club. Kids under 15 I think get to go in a raffle and 8 or so are picked to go to some place to hunt pheasants.

    Actually in western Washington we have pheasant release sites that the Department of Fish and Game run. You can hunt them if you buy a pheasant card that allows you to kill 8 birds. Of course they plant a few more birds for the youth hunt which takes place a week before the regular season opens.

    Our Pheasants Forever chapter has a youth hunt every year. We average between 15-20 kids each year. I am looking for ways to grow this event but unsure on where to start.
