This is a bird I shot in Michigan this past week. Anybody want to eat him? We figured a less than proficient bow-hunter made a bad shot. There was a wound channel going from the crop and out the side of the breast. The smell was something like the worst road-kill you can imagine. Funny thing was that he came in hot to trot and I killed him 30 minutes after he flew down and had to call him up twice when some cows spooked him the first time. I don't think a Cajun would have eaten him:l

This gob of green stuff was between the skin and meat and you can see the broadhead impression at the point of exit.

The first picture doesn't look like it could even be the same bird. congrats on a great bird, sorry about the bad meat.

Just goes to show the resilience of the birds we hunt and how strong the drive for reproduction can be:eek: . How many of us can say that we'd still be chasin tail with a gangrenous open wound.

    Besides me!:tu

That's pretty rough. You did him a favor - eventually he would have suffered terribly...

Pat, that for sure is a bad break but look on the bright side you got to call him in twice. I talk to Harry and in the books for 2010.

It's nice to know that bird didn't have to suffer any more. Nice bird!
