zebra muscles

    aren't the zebras part of the problem with bluebills, concentrating contaminates and passing them to feeding bluebills???

    Sean, I know that's been thrown out there as an idea, but haven't seen it substantiated.

    As far as zebra mussels filtering out silt, I would think this would be partially successful? They will only "eat" what benefits them, the small soil particles and whatever else make up silt would either be too large to be filtered, or be passed through as an inedible substance. They would be looking for algae or plant matter particulates perhaps?

    Rarely is an invasive species beneficial, it would be nice if this was the exception.
