I loaded copper plated lead for the last few years because it doesn't pull the feathers in to the bird. Now I can get some zinc plated lead for a better prize. I was told it works the same as the copper plated. Does anybody have any experience with that zinc plated stuff?:z

Both copper and zinc are used to coat lead shot to make them harder like steel shot so that they distort less and produce better patterns.

As you said, the harder shot also stays more round and thus penetrates deeper and doesn't draw in feathers like softer lead does when it flattens out on impact.

I haven't done any research on the two, but the zinc coated shot should perform just as well as the copper.
