I learned to use a short reed on a PC-1. When I made the switch to an SR-1, it was a piece of cake! I'd say the PC-1 is a good call to learn on but you'll probably end up forking over tyhe $ for a SR-1 or a Money-Maker.

I wouldnt call him a tool, but I have heard that can be very cocky and generally not give people the time of day. Now, I'm sure being freddy he gets a ton of people talking BS to him, and that would get old. I love his videos, think theyre the best made. I dont like his calls, but I know he kills a ton of birds.

If you get a PC-1, arch your tongue up and forward toward the forward roof of your mouth. Start with your hands partially cupped over the end of the call and blow softly to get that groaning sound then increase air pressure slightly and open your hands slightly until the breaks over into a honk. It takes a little practice but these calls sound pretty good!
