Well! Lets see. I was born in a Northern CA City close to the OR Border.
- Favorite Shotgun:
Hunted ducks and bucks as long as I can remember hanging on to my G Pa's back pocket as he drug me along learning every step of the way.
Out of High school Volunteered for the draft and my Army career started. Went in, in 68 out in 71.
went into sheet metal and mover to OR in 74 and been here ever since.
Of all my young yrs growing up Ducks and Brant were my love big time with a Gpa who was a hunting mad man it was good for me real good for me.
At 15 got and learned well how to scull and every time i could get someone to haul my boat and let me go I was on the water sculling on Ducks and Brant.
I'm 72 yrs young now and had one of the best hunting careers a any one person could have.
from Ducks, to Brant, to Geese, to Bucks, and to Bow hunting Elk for 35 yrs until my arms said no more.
I still scull not as much as my past seasons but do a little more Decoying for both Ducks and Brant. I Brant hunt every yr in Humboldt Bay CA.
My Ducks that I only shoot is Mallard and Sprig and the rare birds I can find & always looking for HyBreds when sculling. Getting in close to those big flocks and siting back glassing for the rare birds is something I have learned to love.
I will shoot a Red Head if I come across a few but nothing else. sculling my whole life, I could limit at any time with most any bird when sculling.
I do shoot a few Europium Widgeon ea yr and give them to our local Taxidermist and get a rate on my mounts which makes it kinda nice.
In my old retirement age I look more for hunting and Salmon fishing to roll around more then ever. I hunt and Fish for everything now days to keep me busy.
So gentlemen for all whom enjoy this sport of hunting and fishing there is something special in your hearts most will never feel, the excitement, rush, anxiety along with all the good and bad things that come with the word Hunting.
All enjoy and thank you for letting me share. Sculler72
