One of the best hunter's I know loves the slow stuff especially in 20 gauge, but he's not your average waterfowl hunter. Scouts the day before a hunt, builds a blind that's almost invisible, and is a master caller. Shoots birds in the wheelhouse, at point blank range. I prefer a faster load myself.
It's not just about the eating of the birds, it's also about time. I've been in Canada for Snow goose hunts, and there just isn't enough time. To eat, sleep, drink, hunt, and clean birds. Cocktail hour/bed time comes early, especially when you're tired, from the day, after day, grind.
I've not used them. Joe Speroni, the late great author of "High Performance Reloading for the 10 Gauge shotgun" writes in his book, "Cheddite also offers 10 gauge hulls, however after thorough testing, I did not find them of adequate quality to invest in them and there is little to no load data...
What BBL? What Hull? it makes a difference. I've been loading RSI wads in 10 gauge for 35 years, and have never see any advice on using a mylar wrap? Not required.
Gold lite or Gold?. There is a difference. The old heavy steel receiver Gold came in different lengths. The "New Gold Lite" with alloy receiver is only offered in 26" and 28"
I've got one, and it measures 22 1/2" from the receiver. Actually not quite as useless as you'd think with a Terror .720 choke screwed in. I picked one up unused with the short bbl for $600.00. I used it last Fall and it was definitely easier to handle than a longer barreled SP-10, and was...
Standard Browning Gold Lite 10 gauge offerings are 28" and 26". Standard Remington SP-10 offerings are 30" and 26" with a rare 24". I believe the longer barrels are big with Waterfowl hunters, and the shorter barrels are big with Turkey hunters. It can also come down to personal preference.
