I have been shooting trap sense 1978 and over the years Wow has it changed , the Youth programs , which are sponsored by hunters / shooters
through NRA has become a real blessing to these programs . With not only Guns and ammo but entry fees are paid . The interesting part is ,
the parents ...
More trigger time rather than New Chokes gives better results with success ! Playing with your pudd , in the blind Chief , will give you more
satisfaction ! 1 3/8 oz of 3's in a load of steel shot , is definitely a short range advantage !
When I ordered my barrel for the 6.5 x 284 with the 8.5 " twist back in the early 90's , guys thought I was crazy !
These 127 gr lead-free bullets work just fine !
I see it all the time in youth shooting , where as a shooter has progressed to a point of wanting/needing to upgrade .
Your son will have to Like the gun (First) so , with used , by shooting a few rounds see what adjustments it may need as , this could take
him to the next level ? Growing pains...
1:12 is for small light-weight bullets but I'm not saying they won't do the job on big game ! I know my 243 with 100 gr bullets took well
over 25 big animals out as far as 300 plus yds . The ability of even the 257 Weatherby with 115's on elk , I saw with my own eyes , hit in
the curly-hairs...
:l :l :l :no Within Range the proper size steel pellets at 1450 fps , out of a .015 constrictions satisfies my needs !
And steel is way harder than most other shot types so , I'll reload recipes that work and watch what others (think) might be better ?
When I need more energy delivered to a...
There's really no advantage other than a few pellets with more energy ! If you need more energy in the loads you shoot , a full payload of
the proper size pellets will do you more good ! It all falls down to marketing to those who have a hard time hitting their targets , when , a
little...
I started off with that IDEA too but with the bullet weights offered decided to go a little heavier for distance trajectory and energy !
P O Ackley proved that a lot of years ago !
My 6.5 X 284 with 139 Noslers have done a great job on Mule deer and Elk !
Here in Calif before the band , 125 Nosler FB have brought home a lot of meat , standing and moving !
The white spot I speak of is just below a deer's jaw (looking at you) and is very deadly , when centered !
It does save a good dinner plate full of great tasting meat and there's no fuss as they bleed out on the spot !
Shooting straight is required !
Yep Robert as I remember walking the halls of Madigan hosp and seeing what was left of some brave soldiers and knowing their lives
have changed , I pray for them to this day ! The wrinkles I wear from fear will never go away as it's a good thing I was young and fearless !
God Best those who have...
My Flat-Bolt M77 has done me proud in 22/250 as it has taken a doz or so Whitetails with one shot kills !
It's setup with 55 gr Nosler FB bullets that I have no problem centering the white patch at 200 plus !
It is a meat gun for sure but it still looks like Brand New , with it's 3.5 X 14...
That's the way most mail-order companies work because we allow them to screw us and or shine us on !
When the trust is lost , that's when they come back with more marketing BS !
I have no experience with shooting bismuth threw screw chokes as all my hunting with bismuth is with old fixed choked guns !
I do know from patterning , bismuth performs very good with consistent patterns at 40 yds and farther with .025 and tighter
constrictions ! The farther the target , the...
I won't say you can't kill birds at 40 yds with a Mod choke and bismuth but , my way of hunting requires a hotter core at 40 yds !
With most shooters successfully killing inside 35 yds , mod might be all they need as , we all know , the bloom of the pattern at these
distances would be more...
Not Me , I'm very anal about loading exactly to the recipe so , I weigh each drop of powder and payload as I prefer to even Gaep finish my loads !
I strive for consistency in my loads and whether it's a benefit to my success , well ,it is to me !
The factory loads are acceptable to some but...
Thanks Joe , no wonder I've stayed with my Roto Metal #4's and loaded them myself !
At Least , my pattern percentage is 35 % greater than those Hevi-Bismuth shells they provided you !
No Wonder my birds DIA , 70 % 0f the time ,too!
It might be Best advice to go back and read over the entire book , having the collar so soon instead of firm OB's , even on the leash ,
is before the table work if I remember right ? I do have my copy of Smart Works but , it's been a few years !
