Just figures of speech, I don't pay much attention to them, but hear these quite often.
Hearing a lot of negatives when people stop and talk..mostly about the current state of our Country..
"We are in a he'll of a mess"
"Bunch of crooks"
"How they sleep at night"
"Would turn over in their graves"
"Wouldn't trust em as far as I could throw em"
"To be so smart,we dang sure don't act like it"
Figures of speech from citizens of the "Greatest Country on Earth"

You left out, "We are here from the government, and we are here to help"!

My wife starts every conversation with " now let me just say this " , that phrase somehow triggers my brain to not comprehend a word of what she just did say .

I usually just consider repeated phrases like the above mentioned as a personal habit. But if someone starts of a conversation with me like.... "You're a f.....g a.....e, I'm gonna punch your face in!"... I tend to get jacked up in a hurry.

I don't know.... I'm going to be honest with you. Your work ethic sucks, your coworkers hate you because you have zero contribution to the team. Your lab is fat, and your wife is ugly.

In all honesty, there are some good times to invoke the phrase.
