Plenty of good advice here. I always went with the disappointment/trust angle with my boys.

Often when going through such an "experience" really can open doors for the whole family .Hopefully this was a learning experience. And a way to make better choices.

This. Could be warning signs of a problem or might just be kids being kids, need to figure out what you're dealing with. The right reaction to one is the wrong reaction to the other. He was home, which would have bought me some slack, for sure.Ask him what he learned. Monitor his behavior to see if it is/or is becoming a habit. Alcoholic drinking starts at young age for some.
