This coyote came right into shotgun range and got it's picture taken, before and after.

Nice job! I got one this am. No good pictures though .

I don't hunt them much. I went out about daylight with a borrowed call. I sat there for an hour and a half . At the end I was just looking around and played every sound the call would make. Then I set in on cottontail for about a minute.
IMG_20200228_080207545.jpg Stood up to take a leak and start packing up. when I looked out there was a coyote about 100yds . It came across several hundred yards of plowed field.

Last time I used the tape on the caller, I ended up with a flock of blue jays, a hawk and the stray dog that my closest neighbor feeds. Ha!

Derby Acres what calls do you generally play, I've shot a few but never while actually hunting them. I went yesterday and played several fifferent tunes for them but none showed. Was wondering if I should be playing rabbit of deer in distress or coyote howls etc.

house cat distress seems to be the one that gets pups worked up in my area.

Most of the time I start out with a rat, rodent, bird or rabbit distress sound at about half volume. After about 4 or 5 minutes I will go to full volume for 30 seconds to a minute and then lower the sound back down to 3/4 volume.

Playing a coyote pup distress sound on full volume towards the end of your coyote calling stand for about 4 minutes can work pretty good.
