Northern opener??! I’m still pounding teal! Like zero pressure out there. I’m finding that half hour before sunrise is the best.

Got a little wet this morning, actually soaked. Skeeters only retreated due to the lightning strikes under a mile away. Was kind of interesting walking across the field watching the light show. Wondered if I was going to end up like Duncan Macleod in Highlander, there can be only one.

A retired game warden told me a story.

He was dog training on the Bay during the Southern zone duck split. He get back to the landing and another boat with four hunters get back at the same time. So he asked “how you do?” And the hunters proceeded to tell him that they shot their limit and it was excellent as nobody was hunting. They had the whole lower Bay to themselves.

The retired warden texted the on duty Warden and informed the hunters of the season being closed and that they’d better wait.

    Btw they weren’t too happy.

Hoping to check off a woodcock and a grouse from Leo’s list tomorrow. We’ll see how much this fat kid sweats, bringing lots of water and goldbond.

Andy if it ain’t their toys, it’s the grandkids. I just gave up trying to put them away. 3 seconds after putting them in the bucket one of them grabs it back out and drops it 2 feet from where I picked it up from.
