Nice dick. Yeah I been drinkin, someone would’ve eventually said it
@woodiefanatic goes all the way out to ND for one of these and we could have shot a truck full of them today.
Wasn’t for lack of swans out there that I couldn’t get it done
4 man limit of geese and a couple bonus mallards
Well, another ND trip is in the books. It was a rather tough hunt, and we got out there too far into the cold snap to cash in on the mallards that were in our area prior most everything freezing up tight. Most all The saving grace was a large/deep lake that stayed open enough to provide a suitable roost for thousands of geese so that's what we focused on.
Speaking of geese...
My youngest son and I with the fruits of our best morning hunt...
A nice blue that the boy will be putting on the wall...
And a Saturday afternoon hunt that turned out pretty decent decoying Ross and Snows with a few incidental canadas...
Nice morning with the birds working well into the wind. 9 bills, 3 ringers (one real stud), can and a buffy.
This hard freeze coming has me feeling no bueno. Gonna have to get greasy and field hunt geese or sumthin
How are the guys north of 64 doing? I've seen plenty of picks of guys ice fishing up by Bayfield already. Guessing it locks most of the stuff up this week with the weather we are seeing. Our sheet water will be frozen solid by morning. Sucks, it was dang fun while it lasted.
It's over for me. Earliest freeze up that I can recall in 36 years waterfowl hunting in Rock County. Well, by Friday morning anyways. I packed it all up this afternoon before sundown. Watched the birds hightail it out of here all day.
Was outside most of today, noteable crane migration, west central region
