The best option for our state would be 2 zones with 2 splits which unfortunately is not possible due to Fed rules. Opening weekend early as possible for both zones, north zone 5 days off then run rest of 58 days. South zone 5 or 12 days off then another 5 day split in October. This checks all the rum dum boxes, unfortunately it's not an option

Move the north zone to Hwy. 8 leave the rest as is even though I favor a big lake zone over a zone that mimics the south zone. Use splits to gain days.

The south zone should never open a day sooner than the first saturday in October. Then a minimum of 5 day split somewhere in there. For my own selfish reasons I'd like to see the south stay open til at least Dec 15th. Before all you mid summer duck hunters start whining that everything is froze tight by then get in your cars and travel out of your back yard and scout a bit. There are s%$t tons of mallards to be had late in the year. Just need to think out of the box a little bit.

Because everyone knows no matter what happens we’re not gonna change the season dates much if at all so who cares what zone your in if there’s literally 7 whopping days difference between the 3 zones

    I agree, what the heck?

Is everyone afraid that the Mississippi River guys will get upset at them for wanting something better or common sense zones that benefit everyone?

It's similar to hunting actually. 10 percent of the hunters kill 90 percent of the ducks. 10 percent of the hunters care enough to try to make common sense changes while 90 percent find it easier to bitch after the fact.

Nope, just don't want another five years of ZDS from the few.

Without some sort of date structure, making a choice is like going to the casino.

With 23 years of 60 day seasons many have not experienced 45 or 30 day seasons. The main purpose of the Mississippi River Zone was to have the ability for a later season in times of moderate or restricted seasons.
There were times in the past when duck season was closed first week of November.
