Son shot his first canvasback yesterday along with a bluebill and had a nice bunch of goldeneyes do it right. Along with the hawk that landed on the blind and the red fox that was checking us out made for a fun hunt despite not seeing many ducks.

9 in the boat today. Couldn’t hit water if we fell out of the boat. Mallards worked really nice this morning
Had another great field hunt (in the picture above) with my son Thursday morning. Six geese and a couple mallards, out by 9:40 so he could get home to smoke a ham to go along with our the turkey for our 3pm Thanksgiving feast.

Cold, froze, and very few birds. Looks like I’ll be heading to central and south zone to wrap up the year.
Thought about heading to the south zone tomorrow but I wonder if the water is hard down there too.

It made some serious ice here monday night. Ramps were/are froze in. I would guess big and moving water in southern iowa would be accessible.

I haven't been to the reservoir , but from my travels in Central it's going to take some big water to be open .
