Sorry, nobands. It really hurts to lose a loved one before the holidays. Went thru the same thing 48 yrs. ago...and Dads death still leaves an empty spot all these years later.

Just wanted to thank you all for the thoughts.
It's very much appreciated .
With Christmas and dad's birthday on new years eve , these couple weeks are tough on the family.
I was the one that shared his passion for the outdoors , so many memories going through some of that stuff . He was really into turkey hunting at the time my son was able to tag along ,even before he could shoot. Turkeys are my sons big passion and escape from the world now.
The family agreed he should have his 3 inch 1100 ,still covered in that damn camo tape. Kids looking forward to rolling a tom with it this spring ,hope I'm there to watch. Yesterday after dinner we shot the Steven's single shot 22 that was his 1st gun , killed my 1st rabbits with it .

You just always think you got more time left ,sometimes not.
Don't waste what you have !

Words so true!
I lost my dad four years ago. He lived 14 hrs away and wasn’t doing well. I needed a surgery where I couldn’t travel for a couple of weeks, but I had a window where I could drive to see him. Then he kind of turned and was doing better so I had my surgery, but he had a very hard time and he passed. I did talk to him on the phone his last day and told him I loved him. His wife thought that was one of the last conversations he could understand what was being said. Oh, I wish we could do that one over again.

Yeah, a fun place to hang. Not sure I’d hunt with any of you guys, I’m pretty particular about who I hunt with. (Calm down, I’m jerking your chains.) But, drive to Waterloo and I’ll buy you a cup of coffee or a Pepsi. Good wishes on 2022!

Last 2021 hunt. A solo hunt where the geese were wanting in so badly I only put out half of my decoys and didn’t

do hardly anything to my blind. Done with 3 in less than 30 minutes. Still plenty of season left to have my best goose year. A couple of deer. Not so good on ducks, but I didn’t even put the blind on my boat. Unless I hunted solo, every hunt with someone included at least one of my sons. I am so thankful for those two guys.

Ended this damn year hunting .
Killed some , had lots give us the 50 yard finger .
Had to go to plan b as the birds switched last minute , just couldn't get the hide perfect enough.
It was good to get out again though. Dog is happy and the guys gave me first shot in honor of my dad's birthday today.
A single , Whiffed on the 1st haha , Stoned it the 2nd. Would have been a complete 2021 deal if I whiffed 3 times .
On to a new and hopefully better 2022 !!
Happy New Years to all .

Happy new year.

Whacked the honkers good this am. Not sure it was worth it. My eyes are still frozen shut.

Win or lose, hawks look good. Nice to see them running the ball with sucess.
