Little bit of a brag moment but my pup rip at just over a year old was on his first successful hunt Saturday. It just so happened that a solo goose came in and I was the only one to shoot. After some encouragement he brought it back to me and it was banded. Pretty special first retrieve. Hunting sheetwater he had birds landing 5 to 10 yards and a big group of geese maybe 25 yards from him never lost composure. He was a little timid with cripples at first but by the 12th bird he improved 10 fold. Thanks @Ratboy the lead on a pup he shows tons of promise already

Very nice. That's not a brag, that's a damn fine day.

Kids managed a few for the youth hunt. Lots of teal pressure around the area seemed to have birds around quite shy. Wasn’t expecting that for the youth hunt. My oldest last year, now he says he can heckle the youngsters next year.

Enjoy the first season with new dog and take lots of pictures! Watching your dog put it together is real pleasure in waterfowling.
