Correct, bumble bees nest in old mouse or goffer holes. The boxes are set at ground level with a brick on top.
You actually use old mouse nests for the nesting material inside.
Something about the smell attracts them.
They are great pollinators for the cone flowers .
BUT..... they will hammer the **** out of you if startled.
Bugger got me twice between the shoulder blades last fall.

This weather sucks , especially the weekends!
Seriously thinking about not wasting a tag on 3rd season and try to hunt all of 4th.
Was really looking forward to getting out these weekend , but besides the rain looks to be 20 mph sustained winds with much higher gusts.

I’ll second that on the weather. Had 2” of snow on the ground for MO opener Monday. 10 day forecast looks like crap too.
