Thanks Dr , nothing wrong with those ! I'll keep those in my notes for this coming seasons reloading !
That's right , with a little shim adjusting those POI's will be deadly ! Bullet seems to know his stuff so (thanks Bullet) I'll give those a try too !

I have data for AA-HS TSS Duplex round as you have mentioned. It's 4/8oz TSS (8.5 in my case) and just under 4/8oz of 4 steel. (just under meaning about 6 pellets under....to fit in the hull) TPS wad and Cheddite primer. powder charge is 23gn of Lil Gun. It's actually low pressure....runs right at 1220fps. Shallow fold crimp very similar to factory AA. TSS on Bottom to open the pattern up.

The AA-HS hull has a smaller volume than the Fiocchi and Cheddite. So lower powder charge is required.

Here's a pattern of the load at 30yds. 30" circle. TSS will open up more at 40 obviously. This will take ducks at 40+ no problem.

With all that being said. This is NOT for the older AA compression hull don't load this in that. Also....this is not the best of hulls to be loading non tox shot in. The volume isn't as large as Cheddite or Fiocchi so velocity will be down to keep pressures in check. It can be done....just know that you'll be in a slower velocity than euro hulls with larger volume. The pattern below kind of validates this as the TSS is in a very tight pattern even at 30yds due to the lower velocity of the round.

Based upon observation of how this pattern is blooming out, I'd speculate the steel pellet component is a nonfactor once past 30 yards and the TSS is so tight that you'd best be dead on the bird to connect.

Lots to think about. All my tungsten shot is 8’s and 9’s (for now). If I can source Cheddite hulls, no luck so far, tps wads and Cheddite primers, then I’ll have several additional duplex recipes to test for the 28. As for the AA-HS hulls I appreciate the useful data … it’ll get me started in the right direction.

I loaded up a modified load of the one listed above. Ched/Federal hulls, 27.2-27.5grain LilGun, tps wad (3 were trimmed about 1/4”, 3 were not.) 90grain of steel 3’s and 300grain of tss 8’s. I loaded two with steel over tss, and 4 with tss under the steel 3’s. Wax beads to tax up space.

The 27.5grain LilGun and factory length TPS wads was a tight fit (the wad lip was about 1/8” from the top of the hull) and I was not able to get a deep crimp. I don’t know how 29grain would fit. I’ll try and shoot some today or Saturday over a chrono and pattern.

We had to cut about 1/8 in off the tps wad to get a good crimp in the cheddite hull with 30grains lil gun with 60 pounds wad pressure.

Reviving a dated thread. I'm about to give up on loading 28 ga TSS/steel duplex any time soon. I've had no luck sourcing 28 ga Cheddite hulls or 28 ga TPS wads. All I've found so far are Cheddite primers, 28 gauge primed red Fiocchi hulls and "premium priced" Lilgun Powder. To date, I've had no "call backs" from vendors regarding Cheddite or TPS being restocked. I suspect when the hard-to-get components become available they are scooped up in quantity asap. I have plenty of the TSS and steel shot.
