Went out duck hunting this morning. SHot a few, but it was SLOW!!! The pup did great. Came back took a new deer stand out with my dad, and the pup got tangled in a fence, dang dad, took her for a walk to look at a ridge!!!! 24 stitches later and an emergency vet bill......several other cuts but not that deep, she is in pain, and now taking 7 days off. Had a great shoot tonight, it stinks with out a dog!!!! Had to dump everything right in the kill hole.
I will never forget when trigger caught the boat skeg with his hip and opened it up at 8pm on a saturday. "That will be 427$ please pay the receptionist and then we'll fix your dog up." Happened 2 days after we had damn near tapped all our funds out paying juniors tuition.
I hear ya...just payed off the first semester for my daughter. Never a good time. She is sore pup right now.....never heard her whine until tonight.
Its amazing how tough these dogs are. After learning a hard lesson, I now thoroughly look over the dog after a hunt.
Rimadyl is a wonder drug for dogs. Pricey, but worth it. Here is a picture of a "seed" that I had removed from my dogs eye on Monday. $95.00 only including eye drops. He has an ulcer in his eye. Money isnt an issue for what he does for me. I don't know what it is but its shaped like a kidney bean with barbs around it. Looks lethal, and I bet very painful. Came from the river.
