Hunted with Dad this morning for the first time in over a year. He missed out all last season and was itching to go this morning. After arriving 10 minutes late as usual, we headed for our spot. Ended up driving the hour to the lake, getting decoys set and adding brush to the blind I half way built last weekend, we surprisingly were set up before shooting time. Shoot time came with a pair of wigeon leaving unscathed and a teal that should have died. A little while later a pair of Mallards come on pretty on Dad's side and he drops the drake on his second shot. Not much after that, we stuck out till 9:30 and ended up with one green head. Low numbers but still loads fun!

Was a bit cold this morning, don't see ice in October often.

Dad had a full winter coat, Cabela's 1600 gram waders and two pairs of socks on and was still cold! I was a little cold but not nearly as bad as him. I tell him he's part lizard.

Very nice. Nothing like hunting Mallards in the pines!

Time spent hunting with family is always a good time, no matter the size of the pile....
