Well, I live in a pretty decent acreage subdivision that is near my town but not yet annexed. Less than 2 mi away is a trailer trash community that is Tweeker Central.

Any area can have a situation arise that give need for self defense. Mom lived out on the farm by herself and had strange people come into the yard.
Having a shotgun sitting by the front door where she actually pulled it out to get then to leave.
Buddy up the street forgot to lock his front door. Had 3 people enter his home while he slept. Again confronted with a firearm they fled. Our neighborhood is not a crime ridden area by any means.
Being prepared and never needing to use it is good planning. Needing it and failing to plan for it ,well you get the point.

Ive found for many years now,that a G17 and extra mag is plenty enough to keep the Democrat voting base around me in check.
