Speckslayer, I posed that question to Dan Malia who posted a link to a story written by a Klamath basin farmer who purported to have knowledge about the spores and spore flushing flows. As near as I can tell the farmer did not provided any supporting evidence.

See, I dont trust biologists or government agencies.......and I work for one. If I want real information about a subject, I will talk to someone whos livelyhood has depended upon certain aspects. These people spend their lives in the field, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, they see what is really going on. They dont depend on some fancy statistics or computer programs to dictate what the final outcome will be, and they sure dont like politics. This has to be one of the wettest years on record and yet the basin is dry, it does not take a NIF scientist to figure out that something is extremely scewed. I hunted the basin in dry times and although some of the water didnt make it to a couple areas, there was plenty of water to hunt. Now both Sumps are still dry and so are most of the Basin refuges? This tells me politics are involved, and with the current "blue" leadership of this country and OR/CA, its no wonder they are hiding the truth about why the Basin is not getting water. I still have not seen a red legged frog.........but it has sure prevented a lot of people, myself included, from doing their jobs.........wonder why the train to no where has not had issues with running into the RLF going through that entire swamp of a valley floor?

Farmers provide food for people and wildlife. Sportsmen are the true conservationists and wont deplete a species for the benefit of themselves. Its the politics that ruin everything. Period.

Sure would have liked to get on the water reports from Salmon fishermen in the Klamath River Trinity River and the Ocean up there this year.

Those salmon fisherman should be happy now because they are getting ALL of the water that would normally go to the refuge and the salmon numbers will skyrocket ….otherwise water isn’t the driving issue!

Alternatively, we could talk to the salmon fishermen in Alaska and see if they also blame the Klamath farmers for their depleted salmon stocks?

Let's turn the tables a bit: do any of the credentialed experts suggest that delivery of water to the basin is wasted? I sense the political one way street of extreme environmentalism at play. Maybe it's a good way to sell books.

I do not know Tommyo,
Why don't you ask them.

Have you ever sensed or observed a street of extreme Big Ag at play?

Tommyo,
We have had some pretty lengthy threads on the Klamath water issues. Perhaps we can reopen those on a new dedicated thread if you would like.

This thread was more pertinent to Sacramento River and the San Francisco Bay salt/freshwater estuary interface and historic/current habitat conditions related to freshwater flows.

Sure there are varied interests. I'm still looking for the big takeaway here in this thread. It's alot of pontificating and statements by mastermind types offering up pedigrees and what exactly?
