    Just went in August again.
We do self guided in 2-3 person skiffs in SE Alaska, NW of Ketchikan. We fish silvers, halibut, lings, and black rockfish depending on tides and what we feel like doing at the moment. In the sound and just outside of it when weather permits. They will take you out in the bigger guide boat if there are 4 of you, for an additional cost. We did a half day this year to try something different and target big lings and chicken halibut - guide boat can only keep halibut at or under 38” and those are were tough to find. Big family style meals at 6 and 6. Very well ran and comfortable lodge, and awesome crew there. Dad goes every year and I’ve been 3 times. Hope to again and again

So Jeremy, do you have a policy of downgrading your facial hair when you upgrade your gear?

Not sure I’ve ever seen that much Sitka gear outside of a catalog.

:l Easier to contain in the beard cover in clean space at work.
Didn’t need the gear much this year but two years ago we got a few inches of rain every day. Was very comfortable

Had to send that one and some others back down, as well as some big vermillions(zero take on non pelagic rock fish regulation went into affect prior to us arriving)
Those things don’t fight for squat anyway.
The reds and the blacks sure do though.
Throwing 2-4oz swimbaits and jigs up against kelp beds for 3-5+lb blacks on light gear is my favorite. Especially when the mooch bite was just adjacent to that reef

Here’s a tip: if you fish for rockfish and are weeding through kelp greenling to get your blacks, don’t toss em, box em!
No limit on them and they are good eating come to find out. Ling cod like fillets on them. They are distant cousins of sorts or something.
