Any woodworking hobbyists around?

My wife wanted a coffee table to fit the 10’ couch she bought. Her only stipulations was that it couldn’t look like something she could buy at a store. Whole table was made from Douglas fir. She did the “distressed” painting herself. I think it turned out pretty good, but man is it heavy.

Not that I really thought otherwise, but this thread has confirmed that I am a complete and total hack

Yea, me too. I never really thought I had much talent. I focused on making functional things. Beauty was secondary.

I pretty much agree with you, form should follow function. One of the reasons I never thought too much of Frank Loyd Wright. I'm familiar with a few of his works. Maintenance nightmares.

My mother in-law wanted a little cabinet for her sewing room to hold specific things and put some kind of press on.

It’s definitely got some things wrong but it’s the first one I ever made (with help from Dad).

Obviously not hard to make, but wanted some little display stands for some Pine Marten skulls:

Some benches to give away at a family reunion. We painted them with a distressed look but I can’t find the finished pictures:

My sister brought me a stick from a tree they cut down in their yard. She liked the purple color inside. “Here - can you make something from this?”

Made her a pen:

This isn’t much in the way of woodworking but it does have wood in the project!

Shaving brushes from oak and elk antler. Two with badger, and two with boar:
