Anyone have a clue what powder the apex 1 ounce tss shells use? I can’t imagine they blend their own…. But maybe. Looks like Longshot?

Likely Longshot or LilGun

Most “boutique” ammo guys use it

Even the bigger companies use the 2 powders.
I just pulled apart some FIO 1.20oz bb loads (steel powder and B&P wads)
And Hevi Steel 2’s - Longshot powder

What's the stated speed for that round?

What's the cost per shell come out to?

Got any pics of the powder?

Got any pics of the components used?

What was the charge weight of powder?

Like to compare it to my 1 once number 8 load

Components are
Chesdite 2-3/4 primed hull trimmed to 2.5 inches
TPS 35 wad
X12X gas seal
35.5 gns powder
437.5 gns TSS #7.5
25 gns PRPSSB 22 buffer
Standard .030 OSC
1550 FPS

I have all these components minus the powder.

I currently run 1 ounce TSS with 38 gn STEEL in that same hull with a pagoda loads using 3 corks and 3, 1/8 felts between and over cork in a TUPR wad with a roll crimp over an OSC and frangible disc. Kills geese but doesn’t burn clean, so I know I’m losing speed. I like TSS fast to help open the pattern some on flying birds. I have not chronographed it yet. I’m also not a fan of that pagoda load and do want to go to the short TPS with a gas seal but not over 38 gns of powder. I know the APEX is running either longshot or lilgun and at 35.5 thinking prob lilgun as Longshot published 1 ounce heavy shot data is in the 24-26 gn range. Even a fed 209a isn’t burning the STEEL powder in my load. I just don’t think the volume of the shot it enough to get the back pressure needed to get a good burn. Def need a faster powder. One ounce steel shot loads burn 36 gns of STEEL fine with that cheddite primed hull. Even 36 gns in my TSS load burns dirty. I have a similar tested load from Hal so I’m not worried about pressure as his is well under.
