Is there a website or app that will tell when you might be able to see the lights?

A kp of 4 will look something like this:

I’ve only seen them a few times and from land. I think that the view from a ship with lights out would really rock.

This is my favorite N.L.’s/Aurora live cam … https://explore.org/livecams/zen-den/northern-lights-cam.

First time I ever saw the Northern Lights I was laying on my back, covered in camo, in a cut wheat field, in the middle of 12 Johnson Folding decoys, at 5am, on the outskirts of Lewiston, ID. The light show left me speechless. Not only did we get the experience of a lifetime but my friend and I went on to shoot 8 Greater Canada’s later that morning.

I’m hoping that next February my wife and I can make the trip to Rovaniemi, Finland. Rovaniemi sits on the Arctic Circle and is a Mecca for Aurora watching. I’ve been to Finland many times for work but was never able to make time for the overnight train trip up to northern Lapland. FYI, that’s also where the, open 365 days a year, Santa Clause Village is located. Below is the live cam link to the village which shows current snow and temperature for the area. There are other live cams in the area that focus just on the Auroras.

Stayed in Turkey, TX last night. Guy I know shot the Aurora a few miles out of town. Evidently, there'd been a huge solar flare.
