That just plain sucks.
Another system making it's way in as well.

Antelope numbers were already struggling in Wyoming before this year, right?

Overall yes, but to put that into perspective, they've seen reduction from 500,000 to 400,000 in large part due to habitat loss, back to back severe winters and drought. Still a ton of antelope out there, but this winter will be a tough one on them for sure. I hunted an area last year that saw back to back years of tag reductions, the hunting was phenomenal. Felt like I was on a private game preserve, trade off, took a few more points than expected.

Antelope can bounce back quickly too, just need some ideal or fairly normal winters, springs and summers for a few years. Time will tell.

Northern Utah has been getting pounded, that's one to pay attention to as well. I was out there a few weeks ago and you could see the devastation from the road on the wintering grounds. I don't know how many deer I counted that were dead, but it was plenty. They just looked like they fell asleep and never woke up.

I remember driving through Wyoming during one of the big drought years and Antelope were coming to the ranches to get water and food.

We have 6 pts. Tough decision on wether to use them this fall or wait a couple of years. Pretty deep cuts in the proposed tag quotas. On the bright side, the animals that survive will have it good.

My property isn't far from Rawlins. Our herds definitely took it in the back door a few years ago and now this year. I've skipped out on my doe tag allotment. I'll be back there in May to check on things. Hopefully enough can power through this...
